Knight's Dream at Unity Theatre
Knight’s Dream: RAWD Reviews
By Keziah
On the 11th of June I went to the Unity Theatre to see Knight’s Dream, a new musical inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which consists of a love triangle, a love drug, and jazz music.
Unity theatre is accessible as it has a ramp to get in, lifts, and a disabled toilet on each level.
Knight’s Dream is a dark comedy that stays true to Shakespeare’s themes of love, betrayal, and the absurd, peppering in references to the original work.
The musical is based on a classic which I love called Heathers. The musical stars Charlotte Teeples as the Bartender,
Thomas Foley as Oscar Pendragon,
Hedda Nordahl-HagenHedda Nordahl-Hagen as Tulisa, Maggie Wakeling as
Hailee, Maria Friberg as Carmen, Hugo John as Luka, Caolán Kelly as Theo, Hepzibah Bevis as Silva, Ella Payne as Saffron, Ryan Addyman as Tim, and Ruby Brown as Dandy The musicals director and writer is Constance Evans, The Assistant director is Gabriel Agha, The Choreographer is Erin Brunda, The Producer is Victoria Sales, and the other Producer is Rosie Connors-Pelling.
The musical was amazing, Charlotte Teeples who played the Bartender was so charismatic and brought so much fun energy to the musical, her voice was beautiful, and her acting was amazing, she interacted with the audience breaking the fourth wall, and my eyes were on her all through the show, even when she was not a major part, she is definitely now one of my acting inspirations I look to be like her in future roles.
The stage was really cool it was set like a bar with seats, a real bar stand, and mystical lights.
The dancing was mind blowing everyone was in sync and they managed to sing well without getting out of breath even when dancing, the moves where cleverly choreographed to fit each song from heartbroken, to jealousy, to anger, and even love.
A character I related to was Carmen played by Maria Friberg, as she felt insecure, jealous of her friends, and never chosen, I relate to this because I also feel like that, she brought her character to life wall, she showed Jealousy just with her facial expressions and she looked like she really truly felt that way.
The costumes were really pretty, the girls wore sparkly dresses, except the girl Bartender who wore a Bartender outfit making the scenes more realistic, and the the guys wore suits and casual outfits.
Another person I loved was Hugo John who played Luka, he was hilarious, and was a great actor, he had me laughing from beginning to end, he was a great actor, I was so impressed as the whole cast was extremely talented and put everything into their roles.
I would give this show a five out of five I loved it, and it had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

Love makes us do crazy things, like changing the way we look, changing the way we act, and even cutting ties with people we love.
Knight’s Dream really made me think about how much we change about ourselves for love, I have gone as far as changing my hair, trying to go on crazy diets and even pretending to like things. Have you ever done something so crazy for love?.
We shouldn't change ourselves for love, love should be real, selfless, and authentic! The right person should love you for you, not the perfect robotic acts we put on.
We are all valuable, your soul is not defined by a number on the scales or the way you look, it is defined by your personality, the things that make you, you, waking up to the sun touching your skin and warming your soul on a sad day, that feeling when you get into a fresh bedsheet, the warm hugs we give and receive, and the things that make us laugh, and smile.
Never let someone make you change, you are worth so much, and the right person should see you for you, which is beautiful, you are beautiful, don't let anyone ever make you feel like you are not.
Writing this made me cry so I hope it makes you feel a little better about yourself, leave a positive message in the comments for someone who might need it.
